Instructions:
 Given list of OSM Map host nodes below, perform the following tasks:

1. Apply manually Linux updates. This task can be done during working hours.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     
     2) Restart each server, waiting for the database to become available again.

## Update Procedure

### Pre-work

1. Send customer notification email (Outlook template) to all affected DB contacts — a few days before starting.
2. Confirm all databases are backed up (reference Domenico Lo Parco) before proceeding.

### Phase 1 — Stop DB and update

Asynchronous replication: stop slaves first, master last. Do not restart the DB after updating — leave it stopped and go straight to Phase 2.

**1\. unbs\-p\-db\-01 \(slave — Valencia\)**

systemctl status postgresql-15.service
dnf -y update

**2\. unbs\-r\-db\-02 \(slave — Brindisi\)**

**3\. unbs\-r\-db\-01 \(master — Brindisi\)**

### Phase 2 — Reboot and verify

Master first. Wait for DB to show active on each server before rebooting the next.

After restart:

**5\. unbs\-r\-db\-02 \(slave — Brindisi\)**

### Verify replication

Run on master unbs-r-db-01 after all reboots complete:

su - postgres
psql
select * from pg_stat_replication;
```

Expected: 2 rows, one per slave, both in streaming replication state.

All 3 servers updated to PostgreSQL 15.18-2. llvmjit package removed first on each server (PGDG packaging conflict: llvmjit 15.18-2 requires libLLVM 21.1 not available on RHEL 8).

Order completed:

* `unbs-p-db-01` (Valencia slave) — stopped, updated
* `unbs-r-db-02` (Brindisi slave) — stopped, updated
* `unbs-r-db-01` (Brindisi master) — stopped, updated

### Phase 2 — Reboot and verify

Order completed:

* `unbs-r-db-01` (master) — rebooted, DB active
* `unbs-r-db-02` (slave) — rebooted, DB active, streaming replication confirmed
* `unbs-p-db-01` (slave) — rebooted, DB active, streaming replication confirmed

### Replication verify

Run on master `unbs-r-db-01`:

select client_addr, state, sync_state from pg_stat_replication;
```

Result: 2 rows, both `streaming / async`. Cluster healthy.
